CEREC combines digital scanning, computer-aided design, and in-office milling so selected ceramic restorations can often be designed, made, and placed during one appointment.
When the tooth and restoration are appropriate for CEREC, completing treatment in one visit can reduce the need for a temporary crown and a separate return visit for final placement.
Some restorations are better handled with a dental laboratory, different materials, specialist coordination, or additional treatment first. We choose the workflow based on the toothu2014not simply speed.
Depending on the case and material, chairside CAD/CAM may be used for selected crowns, inlays, onlays, and other ceramic restorations.
The technology assists with records, design, and manufacturing, but diagnosis, tooth preparation, material selection, bite evaluation, and final quality checks remain clinical decisions.
