Botox temporarily reduces activity in selected muscles. At Peosta Dental, treatment is planned conservatively around your facial movement, goals, health history, and—when relevant—jaw muscle concerns.
Botox may be used to soften selected expression lines caused by repeated muscle movement while preserving a natural appearance and facial expression.
For selected patients, Botox may be considered as part of a broader plan for overactive jaw muscles, clenching, or muscle-related discomfort. It is not the right treatment for every TMJ/TMD problem.
Candidacy is based on your health history, treatment goals, anatomy, medications, pregnancy or nursing status, neuromuscular conditions, prior reactions, and other individual factors—not a simple age range.
Our goal is controlled, intentional treatment. More product is not automatically better; dose and placement should reflect the muscle, movement, and result being targeted.
Results gradually wear off as muscle activity returns. Maintenance frequency differs from person to person, and treatment should be reassessed rather than placed on an automatic schedule.
A consultation is the best way to determine whether Botox fits your cosmetic or jaw-muscle goals and what a conservative treatment plan would involve.
