Getting Started

Choosing Invisalign®

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign uses a customized series of clear, removable aligners to gradually move teeth without traditional metal brackets and wires.

Am I a candidate for Invisalign?

Many teens and adults with crowding, spacing, crooked teeth, or bite concerns may qualify. Dr. Austin Reed will evaluate your teeth, bite, oral health, and goals before recommending treatment.

Can Invisalign treat complex cases?

Clear aligners can treat many mild, moderate, and more involved orthodontic concerns. The right recommendation depends on your individual case and your ability to follow the wear schedule.

Is Invisalign available for teens?

Yes. Invisalign Teen® offers a discreet option designed to fit school, sports, activities, meals, and everyday teen life.

Daily Life

Wearing and Caring for Aligners

How many hours per day should I wear my aligners?

Most patients are instructed to wear their aligners 20–22 hours per day, removing them only as directed.

Can I eat and drink with aligners?

Remove aligners for meals and for drinks other than water. Brush before reinserting them whenever possible.

How do I clean my aligners?

Rinse them regularly and clean them using the method recommended by our team. Avoid hot water, which can distort the aligner material.

Can I play sports or instruments?

Usually, yes. Aligners can be removed as directed when a protective mouthguard is needed, and many musicians find them easier to manage than fixed braces.

Will Invisalign affect my speech?

A slight temporary change is possible while your tongue adjusts. Most patients adapt within a short period.

Treatment & Appointments

What to Expect

How long does Invisalign treatment take?

Timing varies based on the amount of movement needed and how consistently aligners are worn. We provide a personalized estimate after your consultation and digital scan.

How often will I visit Peosta Dental?

After the early aligner check, progress visits are generally scheduled about every six weeks, although your individual schedule may differ.

Does Invisalign hurt?

You may feel pressure or tenderness when beginning a new set of aligners. This is generally temporary and reflects the aligners applying gentle force.

What are Invisalign attachments?

Attachments are small tooth-colored shapes placed on selected teeth to help aligners apply more precise movement. Not every patient needs the same attachments.

What happens if I lose an aligner?

Contact our office promptly. We will tell you whether to wear a previous aligner, move to the next set, or take another step.

What are refinements?

If additional movement is needed after the initial series, we may complete another digital scan and order refinement aligners to improve the final result.

Cost & Coverage

Understanding the Investment

How much does Invisalign cost at Peosta Dental?

The current Invisalign treatment fee is $4,800. Your consultation will explain the recommended treatment and the financial details that apply to your case.

Does insurance cover Invisalign?

Some dental plans include orthodontic benefits that may apply. Our team can review your benefits and provide an estimate before treatment begins.

Can I use HSA or FSA funds?

Eligible HSA or FSA funds may be used for Invisalign treatment. Confirm eligibility and documentation requirements with your plan administrator.

Are payment arrangements available?

Our team can review available payment options and explain the payment schedule during your consultation.

After Invisalign

Keeping Your New Smile

Will I need a retainer?

Yes. Retainers help maintain the new position of your teeth after active treatment and are essential for protecting your results.

How often will I wear my retainer?

Your wear schedule will be personalized. Follow Dr. Reed’s instructions and bring your retainers to follow-up visits so their fit and condition can be checked.

What if my retainer no longer fits?

Contact the office rather than forcing it. A change in fit can indicate tooth movement or damage to the retainer and should be evaluated.
