A fall, sports injury, accident, or impact can damage teeth even when the injury looks minor. Call Peosta Dental at (563) 557-1563 so we can help determine how quickly you should be evaluated.
Hold it by the crown, not the root. If dirty, rinse gently without scrubbing. If it can be safely repositioned, place it back in the socket; otherwise keep it moist in milk and seek dental care immediately.
A knocked-out primary tooth is generally not placed back into the socket because doing so may injure the developing permanent tooth underneath. Children still need prompt dental evaluation after trauma.
For contact or collision sports, a properly fitted mouthguard can reduce the risk and severity of many dental injuries. Ask us whether a custom mouthguard makes sense for your activity.
Fast evaluation can improve the chance of preserving an injured tooth and helps us identify damage that may not be visible from the outside.
